FAQ's
I typically ship on Mondays and Tuesdays with USPS priority. I can do UPS 2nd day on Wednesdays and UPS next day on Thursdays but you can pick those options on Mondays and Tuesdays as well.
For neocaridina I will provide sexed adults and will do my best to assure you have a good mix of sexes. Juveniles may be added for possible DOA (Dead on Arrival) or if stock is getting low but I typically send a bit extras. For caridina I will provide unsexed juveniles as they adapt better to new tanks and are less stressed during transit. If you would like purchase sexed adults then send me a message and if possible then I will let you know but keep in mind they will be 2-3 times the normal price of juveniles, sometimes more if they are top grade.
I do not use heat packs, I have received too many packages with cooked shrimp in them. I insulate the box really well and I feel comfortable shipping as long as it’s above freezing during the day through the days estimated for arrival. Occasionally I will use cold packs if it is hot where I am shipping from. They typically won’t hold much more than 24 hours so they’re kind of pointless by the time they get to their destination unless it’s UPS next day air. I feel comfortable shipping at a high of about 95 and please consider expedited shipping if temperatures are high.
Yes you should. Not all water parameters are the same so it could send the shrimp in to shock if this is not done. I like to do about a drip a second until the water volume has at least doubled of the water they were in originally. Another way I do it occasionally is to add about an ounce of water every 10 minutes or so. Only use glass or plastic to drip acclimate in and never metal. You can float the bags for a bit if the water temps are way off.
Yes you can! Just send me a message and we can pick a date, time and location that works for the both of us.
